Settlers Assault Photographer Covering West Bank Olive Harvest Violence

An Agence France-Presse photographer, Jaafar Ashtiyeh, was severely beaten by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank while documenting violence against Palestinian olive farmers. The assault occurred in the presence of approximately a dozen armed Israeli soldiers, who reportedly did not intervene.

Ashtiyeh, a veteran photographer, was struck with the butts of guns by the settlers, sustaining injuries that required hospitalization. The incident highlights ongoing tensions and violence in the region, particularly during the olive harvest season, and raises concerns about the safety of journalists covering such events.
