76ers Spoil Knicks' Championship Ring Night with Season-Opening Victory

The New York Knicks celebrated their 2026 NBA Championship with a ring ceremony and banner raising at Madison Square Garden, but their season-opening festivities were cut short by a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Tyrese Maxey and new acquisition Jaylen Brown led the 76ers to a 106-100 victory, dampening the celebratory mood for the home crowd.

The event, attended by numerous celebrities, began with players receiving their championship rings and two banners being unveiled in the rafters. Jalen Brunson delivered an emotional address to the fans, reflecting on the team's journey to the title. However, the focus quickly shifted to the game as the 76ers, showcasing a new-look squad featuring LeBron James and Brown, managed to secure the win on the road, with James achieving a personal milestone by winning a season opener with a new team in his 24th season.
