Welsh Artist Jamie Miller Achieves First UK Number One in 15 Years

Jamie Miller, a Welsh singer, has secured the UK's number one single with his song "Babydoll." This marks a significant achievement, as it is the first time a Welsh artist has reached the top spot on the UK singles chart in 15 years. The last Welsh artist to achieve this was Sian Evans, who featured on DJ Fresh's "Louder" in 2011.

Miller's success highlights a resurgence of Welsh talent in the UK music scene. The achievement comes amidst other notable music news, including the cancellation of Slayyyter's UK and European tour dates due to vocal cord issues and the passing of Irish traditional music legend Dónal Lunny. Additionally, Irish DJ Jazzy is set to release her debut album after achieving a billion streams, and Slade star Dave Hill is releasing a solo album celebrating his Wolverhampton roots.
