U.S. Seizes Iranian Oil, Escalating Economic Pressure Campaign

Three very large crude carriers, previously seized by U.S. naval forces, are now en route to the United States carrying an estimated $600 million worth of Iranian oil. The tankers, identified as the Tifani, Majestic X, and Lenore (also known as Davina), were intercepted in the Indian Ocean earlier this year as part of a naval blockade imposed by President Donald Trump.

The blockade, initially targeting ships attempting to enter or leave Iranian ports, was later expanded to include Iran-linked vessels globally. After a temporary ceasefire, the blockade was reimposed, shifting the administration's strategy towards economic pressure. The U.S. is utilizing maritime prize law to enforce the forfeiture of the oil, a legal framework that has historical significance in international maritime disputes.
