Riot Games has announced the discontinuation of active development for 2XKO, its free-to-play fighting game set in the League of Legends universe. The decision comes less than a year after the game's initial launch, with the company citing a lack of sustained player engagement as the primary reason for the pivot.
While servers for 2XKO will remain operational for a period, the studio will no longer be investing resources into new content or features. Riot Games stated that the game has not demonstrated sufficient player retention to establish a sustainable path forward, leading to the conclusion of its development cycle at the end of 2026.
